School Donations for 2020
The combined Board of Trustees of both Ormiston Primary and Ormiston Junior College schools have taken their time and have carefully considered the government’s $150 per child donation scheme for both schools and have determined that Ormiston Primary School will opt-in and Ormiston Junior College will opt-out of the scheme. Therefore, in 2021 Ormiston Primary School will not be asking for any school donations.
Like all schools, Ormiston Primary School has very high aspirations for every student and the programme we want to deliver will not need to be compromised due to the school opting-into the new scheme.
All of the educational experiences, for example, a Learning Habitat trip to Auckland Zoo or transport costs to a sports day would be paid for by school funding next year. As with this year, all families would be notified of these trips in advance and given the option of whether their child attends. We will still be requiring families to purchase stationery for their children.
Under the new scheme, the school is allowed to ask families for contributions towards the costs associated with an overnight camp.
We will closely monitor the financial implications for 2022 as the year progresses.
