I had the pleasure of working with Pākihi, Maunga, Ngutuawa, Pūkaki and Taupuni artists this term. We enjoyed participating in our school wide art installation to celebrate our OrmPS 10 year anniversary. This involved learning about beads from Aotearoa and around the world, and having fun while creating our own. We’ll have to be patient and wait until later in the year for the exciting unveiling of our anniversary artwork!

Year 5/6 habiltats also learnt about Hauora, and discussed practical things we can do to keep us feeling happy and healthy. Such as spending time in nature, keeping active, breathing exercises and making art. We enjoyed the calm of drawing ink mandalas and completed a soft pastel background using a new technique. We also discovered connecting to nature by playing with rocks from around Aotearoa was a relaxing way to take a break.

Pākihi learners were involved in a project to decorate a break out space in their habitat which they will use for quiet activities. We collaged leaves to make fantastical vines which will brighten up the space and engage the imagination.

Ka pai ō koutou mahi OrmPS artists!
